# How do I connect Vidi to Claude Code?

> Set up Vidi (usevidi.com) for Claude Code: install the Vidi CLI, the Vidi skill and the Vidi MCP server, then ask Claude Code to record a demo.

Vidi (usevidi.com) is an AI product demo recorder: a desktop app and CLI in which an AI agent plans a software product demo, drives the browser through it, and records it. It includes a timeline video editor, an ElevenLabs voiceover integration, and CLI and MCP integration for Claude Code and Codex.

## What you need

- A Mac with Apple silicon
- The Vidi app, signed in with Google
- Claude Code, signed in: `brew install --cask claude-code`, then `claude auth login`

## Steps

1. **Install Vidi.** Download Vidi from https://usevidi.com/download or run `brew install --cask dolynchuk/vidi/vidi`. Sign in with Google.
2. **Install the CLI.** In Vidi, open Settings › Agents and tools and install the Vidi CLI (`~/.local/bin/vidi`).
3. **Install the Claude skill.** Install the Claude skill in the same view. It lands in `~/.claude/skills/vidi/SKILL.md` and teaches Claude Code to plan and record demos.
4. **Connect the MCP server.** Install the Claude Code MCP connection. Vidi runs `claude mcp add --scope user vidi -- ~/.local/bin/vidi mcp` for you.
5. **Restart Claude Code.** Restart Claude Code to load the skill and the server, then check the connection with `claude mcp get vidi`.
6. **Ask for a demo.** For example: “Record a 30-second demo of the new search on http://localhost:3000.” Claude Code inspects the page, writes the plan, records it and reads the step report.

## Set it up by hand

With the Vidi CLI installed, one command connects Claude Code:

```
claude mcp add --scope user vidi -- ~/.local/bin/vidi mcp
```

## Record from the app

The Record button in the Vidi app also runs through Claude Code, so it needs a signed-in Claude Code CLI on the same Mac.
